Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups shortening
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1/2 tsp. Salt
  • 4 tsp. Soda
  • 2 tsp. Cinnamon
  • 2 tsp. Ground cloves
  • 2 tsp. Ginger
  • 4 cups flour

Preparation

Step 1

Cream the shortening and the sugar. Add the Molasses and eggs. Sift all dry ingredients. Then add them to the batter. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour but preferably overnight. Roll into a ball and roll the ball into a bowl of sugar, or sanding sugar, then place them on a tray. Patt slightly. Bake @ 350 for 8-12 minutes
