Ingredients

  • Caramel:
  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 cup scalded milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 Tbsp salt
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 2 eggs
  • 9 cups sifted flour
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 5 cups brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp. corn syrup

Preparation

Step 1

Mix yeast with 1/2 cup warm water. Mix together milk, sugar, salt, shortening 1 cup warm water, cool.
Add yeast mixture and 1/2 of flour, beat well. Add eggs. Add remaining flour and blend thoroughtly. Let stand for 10 minutes. Knead 5 minutes. Let raise till double. Knead and shape as desired. Refrigerate or bake when doubled.
Roll out for caramel rolls spread with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon. Roll up and cut in 1" rolls
Put cooled caramel in large pan and place rolled dough on top. let raise

Caramel:
cook over medium heat till sugar is dissolved. Place in pan for caramel rolls. when cool add rolls. Place in refrigerator over night or let raise on counter till double.

Bake at 350 for 35 to 40 minutes

let stand for 10 to 15 minutes then turn over to remove from pan
