  • 5 cups all purpose flour
  • 3 T brown sugar
  • 2 t salt
  • 1 lb butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 2/3 cup cold water
  • 2 T vinegar



Step 1

Combine first 4 ingredients in a large bowl. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Beat remaining 3 ingredients with a fork in a small bowl.
Slowly add to flour mixture, stirring with a fork until mixture starts to come together.
Do not overmix.
Turn out onto work surface.
Shape into 3 slightly flattened discs. Wrap each in plastic wrap.
Chill for 1 hour before rolling.
Makes 6 cups.
