Swiss Cheese Stuffed Turkey Burgers with Thousand Island Slaw 0 Picture

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 pounds lean ground turkey
  • 2 tablespoons applesauce
  • salt and pepper
  • 4 Swiss cheese slices
  • 1/2 cup light mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
  • 1 tablespoon chili sauce
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon horseradish
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1/2 cup red onion, sliced thin
  • 8 slices marble rye bread

Preparation

Step 1

1. Combine turkey, applesauce, and salt and pepper. Make 4 patties, stuffing cheese in between.

2. Whisk together mayo-s&p. Toss cabbage and onion with 1/4 cup dressing just before serving.

3. Grill or pan-saute burgers; about 7-8 mins/side. Serve on bread with slaw.

Notes: Used lowfat mayo instead of regular and Moomie's buns instead of the marble rye. Thought it sounded a bit weird to eat the slaw right on the sandwich, but it was absolutely delicious that way. Great addition to our summer repertoire
