Preparation
Step 1
Leftover Pizza
Heat up leftover pizza in a non-stick skillet on top of the stove. Set heat to med-low and heat until warm. This keeps the crust crispy.
Reheating Refrigerated Bread
To warm biscuits, pancakes or muffins that were in the fridge, place them in the microwave with a cup of water.
Bananas
Peel a banana from the bottom and the strings will come off with the peel.
Separate your bananas from the stem when you get them home and they won't ripen so fast.
Cheese
Store open cheese in aluminum foil. It stays fresh longer and will not mould.
Peppers
3 bumps on the bottom are sweeter, better for eating raw. 4 bumps on the bottom are firmer and better for cooking.
Ground Beef
Add a teaspoon of water when frying ground beef. It helps pull the grease away from the meat.
Eggs
Use a couple of teaspoonfuls of sour cream, cream cheese or heavy cream when beating up eggs for omelets or scrambled eggs.
Garlic
Add immediately to a recipe for a light garlic taste or at the end of a recipe for a heavy garlic taste.
Broken Glass
Use a wet cotton ball or Q-tip to pick up the small shards of glass you can't see.
Mosquitoes
Place a dryer sheet in your pocket to keep the mosquitoes away.
Vacuuming
Place an empty paper towel or gift wrap roll on the end of your vacuum hose to reach under furniture.
Measuring Cups
Before using your cup for a sticky substance, pour hot water into the cup, then dump it out but don't dry it. Then use it for the sticky ingredient and it will come right out.
Dryer Safety
Clean your lint trap with soap and water every six months to prevent the build up on the screen from dryer sheets.
