Ingredients
- 2 cups Bisquick baking mix
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 3/4 cup hot water
- 2/3 cup dark molasses
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground ginger

Step 1
Heat oven to 325*. Grease and flour 9x9x2 inch square pan. Beat all ingredients in large mixer bowl on low speed, scraping bowl constantly, 30 seconds. Beat on medium speed, scraping bowl occasionally, 3 minutes. Pour into pan. Bake until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, about 50 minutes. Serve with whipped cream or applesauce if desired. 9 servings.
