  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 sticks butter, cut into bits
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup milk



Step 1

Preheat oven to 425. Grease 2 baking sheets.
In large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles course meal. In a small bowl, whisk together zest, sour cream and milk and add to flour mixture. Stir together until it forms a soft, sticky dough and drop into 12 mounds on baking sheets. Pat each to 1/2 inch thinness. Bake 12-15 minutes or until golden. Transfer to rack and cool.
