Ingredients

  • 3 cups mixed fresh berries (such as blueberries, blackberries, and/or raspberries)
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 4 tea. quick-cooking tapioca
  • 1/2 tea. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tea. ginger
  • 1/2 cup crushed amaretti
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 tbsp. sliced almonds
  • 2 tbsp. packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 tbsp. butter, softened
  • Vanilla ice cream

Step 1

In a large bowl combine berries, sugar, tapioca, cinnamon, and ginger. Let stand for 15 minutes, stirring ocasionally.

For the topping, in a medium bowl combine crushed amaretti, flour, almonds, and brown sugar. Using a pastry blender, cut in the1/4 cup butter until amaretti mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Using the 1 Tbsp. softened butter, generously butter two 5" cast iron skillets. Fill skillets with berry mixture. sprinkle with the topping.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake until bubbly and topping is golden brown. Allow about 20 minutes.

Let cool for 30 minutes before serving. Serve warm with ice cream.
