Ingredients

  • 1 pint oysters
  • 2 c. cracker crumbs, medium course
  • 1/2 c. melted butter
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. oyster liquor
  • 3/4 c. cream (evaporated milk)
  • 1/4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • Dash of pepper

Step 1

Drain oysters saving liquor. Combine crumbs, butter, salt and pepper. Spread 1/3rd of the buttered crumbs in a greased 8x1-inch round pan, cover with half the oysters. Using another 1/3rd of the crumbs, spread a second layer and cover with the remaining oysters. Combine cream, oyster liquor, and Worcestershire sauce. Pour gently over the oysters. Top with the last of the crumbs. Bake in moderate oven 350 degrees 40 minutes. Makes 4 servings.
