Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, divided
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 medium apple, peeled, cored, and finely chopped
- 4 tablespoons (1/4 cup) butter, melted
- 1/3 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
- 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar

Preparation
Step 1
1.Preheat oven to 375�F.
2.In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and salt. In a medium-sized bowl, beat together the egg and milk. Stir in the chopped apple and melted butter. Add all at once to flour mixture; stir just until mixed (batter will be very stiff).
3.Spoon into a greased muffin pan, filling each cup about two-thirds full. Mix topping ingredients: the chopped nuts, brown sugar, and remaining 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon; sprinkle over each muffin.
4.Bake for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove from pan immediately and serve warm.
