Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. almond extract
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. cream of tartar

Preparation

Step 1

1. Cream together well the butter and confectioner's sugar. Beat in egg and flavorings.

2. In separate bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients into the butter mixture. Mix well.

3. Divide the dough in half and form 2 balls since it is easier to handle when rolling out the dough. Place the 2 balls of dough in bowl and chill overnite in refrigerator.

4. Roll out chilled dough on lightly floured board to 1/8" thick and use cookie cutters of your choice to cut them out.

5. Place on ungreased cookie sheets and bake 375 deg. for 7-8 minutes.

6. Watch carefully because they can burn very easily. I usually bake them for 7-8 min. but sometimes it may take a minute or two longer depending on the thickness of the dough.
