Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. ground beef
  • 4 T. chili powder
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 green pepper
  • 2 cans (15 oz. each) tomato sauce with bits
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 T. vegetable oil
  • 2 T. flour
  • 2 cans (1 lb. each) kidney beans

Step 1

In large pan, brown the beef. Spoon off fat. Sprinkle meat with chili powder, salt and sugar; mix well. Add onion, green pepper, tomato sauce, water and bay leaf. Cover and simmer one hour. Remove bay leaf. In small bowl, stir together the oil and flour until smooth; stir in idney beans; add to meat mixture. Cover and simmer about thirty minutes.
