  • 16 slices white sandwich bread
  • 1/2 lb. shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 2-3 c. cubed ham
  • 6 extra large eggs
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. butter, melted

Step 1

Trim bread and cut into 1 1/2-inch cubes. Place half the bread cubes in greased 9x13-inch bakinch dish; cover with cheese and ham; repeat layer; combine eggs, milk and salt and beat thoroughly; pour over layers, then drizzle melted over all. Refrigerate, covered overnight or for several hours. cover loosely with foil to bake, place in another pan with 3/4-inch of water. Bake 400 degrees for 50-60 minutes. Uncover last 15 minutes of cooking period. Serves 10-12.
