Ingredients
- 5 cups water
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 stick butter
- 1 1/2 cups uncooked grits
- 2 tbsp finely chopped garlic
- 1 cup shredded smoked gouda cheese
- 2 jalapeno peppers, seeded and finely chopped
- enough oil to fill pan 2 inches
- Lulu's crazy frying flour
- 2 cups milk

Preparation
Step 1
Bring water salt & butter to boil in heavy saucepan.
Add grits & cook over med low heat til liquid has evaporated and grits are smooth and creamy
Add garlic, cheese & peppers. Stir well and cook til cheese melts.
Pour grits into greased casserole and refrigerate overnight.
Just before serving, cut grits into desired shapes.
In heavy skillet heat oil to 355 degrees over med high heat.
Dredge grit shapes through flour, dip into milk, dredge in flour again.
Gently drop into oil, fry 2 minutes per side til golden brown or they float to the top.
Drain on paper towels.
Serve immediately.
