Ingredients
- 3 lbs tart apples
- 2 tbls lemon juice
- 1/2 C light brown sugar packed tightly
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/3 C flour
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup rolled oats
- 4 tbls cold butter (1/2 stick)
- 1/2 C chopped walnuts or pecans
Preparation
Step 1
Chop apples into slices
In one bowl add apples and lemon juice
In second bowl combine brown sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon
Combine bowls and mix together
Grab another bowl and mix flour, sugar and oats
Slice butter into small pieces
Using two forks to mix the flour mixture with butter until it looks crumbly.
Add chopped nuts
Grease 9" square baking dish and spread apple mixture on the bottom
Top off with flour mixture
Cook 30 - 45 min at 375 or until apples are soft and topping is browned slightly.
Serve warm or at room temp.
