Preparation

Step 1

Have each grandchild or family member stand sideways in front of the lamp so his or her shadow profile projects onto the paper. You may have to adjust the lamp to make the shadow sharp enough and small enough. Trace each person’s profile on separate pieces of paper.

3. Cut each profile out and trace on to scrapbook paper. The end result looks best with a number of faces and when all of the profiles are facing the same way. If the profiles are too large to trace on to the scrapbook paper, cut the faces smaller by trimming the profiles a little at a time. You could also photocopy the profiles at a smaller size and use the photocopies as the tracer.

4. Cut each profile out of the scrapbook paper. Affix each profile, alternating paper patterns, to the length of ribbon and hang for Grandma on Mother’s Day!
