HEARTY PILAF CASSEROLE

An unusual casserole that is equally delicious when made with ground turkey or ground beef.

Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground turkey or beef
- 3/4 cup bulgur wheat
- 1/2 cup sliced green onion
- 1/4 cup chopped bell pepper
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 28-oz. can crushed tomatoes
- 1 lb. zucchini, cut into 1/4-inch slices
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 1/4 tsp. dried oregano, crushed
- 1 tsp. sugar (optional)
- Dash bottled hot pepper sauce
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (4 oz.)

Step 1
In a large skillet cook ground beef or turkey, uncooked bulgur wheat, onion, bell pepper and garlic until meat is browned and onion & pepper are tender. Drain. Stir in tomatoes, zucchini, Worcestershire, salt, oregano, sugar and pepper sauce. Turn into a 2-quart casserole. Bake covered at 350 degrees F. for 45 minutes. Sprinkle cheese atop and return to oven just long enough to melt the cheese.
