Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 t. baking soda
  • 1/4 c. baking cocoa
  • 1 t. ground ginger
  • 1 t. cinnamon
  • 1/2 t. ground cloves
  • 1/4 c. butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1/3 c. molasses
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Garnish: powdered sugar

Preparation

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda, cocoa and spices.

In another bowl, combine butter, molasses and eggs. Add butter mixture to flour mixture, stirring until just combined. Spread in a greased 13"x9" baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Cool in pan on a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar. Cut into squares.

Makes 2 dozen.
