This is the best homemade Cream Cheese Frosting. It’s rich and creamy with just the right amount of sweetness and a hint of lemon. This is the perfect topper for banana cake, red velvet, carrot cake and so much more!

Ingredients
- 8 oz cream cheese , room temperature
- 1/3 cup butter , softened
- 3 to 3.5 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice (or vanilla)
- (optional) 1 1/2 teaspoons lemon zest

Step 1
Combine cream cheese and butter with a mixer on medium speed until smooth and creamy. Mix in lemon juice (and lemon zest if using).
Add in powdered sugar a bit at a time until fluffy.
Do not overmix.
Store up to 5 days in the refrigerator.
