Ingredients
- For shortcake dough:
- 2/3 to 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 cup boiling water
- 3 cups fruit with juice
- 1/2 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (or less)
- 3 tablespoons shortening
- 1/2 cup milk

Step 1
1.Mix together in saucepan sugar and cornstarch.
2.Stir in gradually the boiling water; bring to boil and boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly, then add fruit and juice.
3.Pour into 10x6x2" baking dish; dot with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon.
4. Make Shortcake
5.Mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
6.Finely cut in shortening with pastry blender or fingers.
7.Stir in milk to make soft dough.
8.Drop spoonfuls of shortcake dough onto fruit.
9.Bake and serve warm with ice cream.
