Ingredients
- icing:
- 3/4 cup softened butter, divided
- 1 1/4 cups sugar, divided
- 1/4 cup fine bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup blanched almonds finely chopped
- 2 eggs beaten
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. almond extract
- 2 cups cake flour, sifted
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1 tsp. butter softened
- 1/2 cup confectioners sugar, sifted
- 2 tsp. boiling water
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Preparation
Step 1
in small bowl combine 1/4 cup butter, 1/4 cup sugar and bread crumbs
mix until crumbly
stir in almonds
press into bottom of a 9x3 1/2" fluted tube pan
in large bowl, beat remaining 1/2 cup butter until light and fluffy
add remaining 1 cup sugar and beat again
beat in eggs, vanilla and almond extract
in med. bowl sift together cake flour, baking powder, and salt
slowly add sifted ingredients to the butter-sugar mix alternately with the milk beating well after each addition
pour into prepared pan
bake at 350 until toothpick comes out clean about 1 hr.
cool in pan 30 min.
turn onto cooling rack and cool completely
icing:
beat butter and sugar until fluffy
stir in water and vanilla
drizzle over cake
