Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups water
- 2 ounces Kentucky bourbon, per glass
- Fresh mint for garnish and six to eight to place in simple syrup

Preparation
Step 1
■ Boil sugar and water together for five minutes to make a syrup. Let cool and place in a covered container with six to eight fresh mint sprigs and refrigerate overnight. Remove the mint springs from the syrup.
■ Fill each julep glass (a silver cup is preferred) with crushed ice.
■ Add one tablespoon mint syrup (sugar and water mixture) and two ounces of Kentucky bourbon and stir rapidly.
■ Garnish with a fresh mint sprig.
