Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp rapid or quick yeast
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped almonds
  • powdered sugar

Preparation

Step 1

1. Add milk, butter, egg, almond extract, sugar, salt, flour and yeast to bread machine set on dough cycle according to manufacturers directions.

2. Remove dough from the machine upon completion of the dough cycle and roll into a rectangle on a floured work surface. Add only enough flour to prevent sticking. Mix together melted butter, brown sugar and almond extract and spread evenly over dough. Sprinkle with almonds.

3. Roll dough jelly-roll fashion, beginning on the wide side. Cut into 12 equal slices and place in greased muffin cups. Cover and let rise in a warm, draft free location for 30-45 mins. Bake in a preheated 350F oven for 20-30 mins or until golden brown.

4. Combine powdered sugar and almond extract to make glaze and top cinnamon buns with glaze while warm.
