- 1/2 cup (1 stick) lightly salted butter, at room temperature
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large egg yolks, lightly beaten
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- Pecan halves or candied cherry halves

Step 1
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
2. Place the butter and sugar in a mixing bowl, and cream with an electric mixer on low until light. Add the egg yolks, and blend until smooth. On low, blend in the flour. The dough will be stiff.
3. Form the dough into 1-inch rounds. Place on lightly greased baking pans and press a pecan half or cherry into each round. Place the pans in the oven, and bake the cookies until they are golden, about 10 minutes. Remove to a rack to cool.
