Ingredients
- 1 cup fed sourdough starter
- 1 1/2 cups luke-warm water
- 2 1/4 t salt
- 1 T sugar
- 5 cups all-purpose flour

Step 1
1. Pour the starter into a large mixing bowl. Add the warm water and 3 cups flour. Beat vigorously. Cover with plastic wrap and set aside for 4 hours. Then refrigerate overnight or 12 hours.
2. Add the remaining ingredients, kneading to form a smooth, soft dough. Place in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise until very puffy through not necessarily doubled, about 5 hours.
3. Divide the dough in half, and shape into 2 oval loaves. Place on a baking sheet, cover , and let rise until doubled, about 2-3 hours.
4. Slash the tops of the loaves, and bake in a preheated 425 oven for 30 min or until golden brown. Remove from oven, and cool on a rack.
