- 1/2 cups of bacon drippings
- 1/2 cup of self rising flour
- 1 1/2 cups self-rising cornbread
- 1 Tbls granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 2 large eggs beaten
- 1 1/2 cups buttermill

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat ove to 400f. Pour bacon drippings into a 9-inch black iron skillet and heat in the oven for 3-5 minutes. In a large bowl, comnine the flour, cornmeal, sugar, salt, and baking soda. In a smaller bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and mix well. Pour the hot bacon drippings from the skillet into the batter and mix well. Immediately pour the batter into the hot skillet and return to the oven. Turn the temperature down to 350F and bake for 40-45 minutes or until browned. Remove from the oven and immediately turn out ont a plate and serve.
