Ingredients

  • 14 oz bag caramels
  • 2/3 c evaporated milk (5 oz)
  • 18 oz German chocolate cake mix
  • 3/4 c soft butter
  • 1 c chopped nuts
  • 6 oz chocolate chips

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350.
Combine caramels and 1/3 c milk in double boiler.
Stir until caramel melts.
Combine cake mix, 1/3 c milk, and butter.
Mix until dough holds together.
Stir in nuts.
Press half of mixture into greased 9 X 13" pan.
Bake at 350 for 6 minutes.
Sprinkle with chips.
Pour caramel over and spread.
Crumb remaining cake mixture on top.
Bake 15-18 minutes.
Cool.
Chill 30 minutes before cutting.
