Ingredients

  • 2 c butter, softened
  • 2 c plus 3 tbsp confectioner's sugar, divided
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 1/2 c flour
  • 1 pkg (12 oz) semisweet chocolate pieces (2 c)

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350.
In bowl, cream butter and 2 c confectioner's sugar.
Beat in vanilla and salt.
Gradually stir in flour until well blended.
Stir in chocolate.
Dough will be stiff.
Shape into 1" balls.
Place 2" apart on ungreased baking sheet.
Flatten with a fork to 1 1/2" rounds.
Bake at 350 for 15 minutes or until light gold.
Remove to rack.
While warm, sprinkle tops with remaining 3 tbsp 10X sugar stirred through strainer.
Cool.
