Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. (1 1/2 medium)thinly sliced, peeled apples
  • 1/4 c. packed brown sugar
  • 2 T. water
  • 1 t. lemon juice
  • 1 T. flour
  • 1 T. sugar
  • 1/4 t. salt
  • 1 T. butter
  • 1/2 t. vanilla
  • 1 tube from 15 oz box refrigerated pie crust
  • 1 egg

Step 1

In 2 qt. saucepan, mix apples, brown sugar, 1 T. water and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until bubbly. Reduce heat to low; cover and cook 6 to 8 minutes, stirring occasionally until apples are tender.

In small bowl, mix flour, sugar and salt. Graduall stir into apple mixture, cooking and stirring until thickened. Remove from heat; stir in butter and vanilla. Cool 15 minutes.

Unroll crust onto ungreased cookie sheet. Spoon apple mixture evenly onto half of crust to within 1/2 inch of edge.

In small bowl, beat egg and remaining 1 T. water; brush over edge of crust. Fold crust over apple mixture; firmly press edge to seal. Flute edge; cut small slits in top crust. Brush with egg mixture.

Bake 25 to 35 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm or cool.
