Ingredients

  • 6 cups All purpose flour
  • 2 pkgs Yeast
  • 1/4 cup Honey
  • OR
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup Powdered sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 Tbsp. Salt
  • (honey makes the bread heavier)

Preparation

Step 1

Combine 3 cups of flour and yeast.

In a pan, heat 2 cups of milk, butter (honey or sugar), and salt til warm. Add to dry ingredients.

Add eggs. Beat 3 minutes on high.

Add flour by hand to make moderately stiff dough.

Turn onto floured board and knead 5 minutes. Turn into greased bowl. Turn once to coat all sides of dough. Let rise til double in size.

Punch down. Let rise again. Punch down and divide into 3 parts.

Cover and let dough rest for 10 mins. Then divide into 3 parts and roll into ropes 15 inches long.

Put onto greased cookie sheet and braid using 3 ropes. Cover and let rise til double in size.

Bake 375 for 20-25 mins.
