Sausage Stuffing

This sausage stuffing is made ahead of time and then used to stuff the bird, or place in a greased casserole dish and bake at 350°F for about 45 minutes, until browned on top.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 stick butter
  • 1/2 cup celery, chopped
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • Sweet Italian sausage, 2 links
  • 1 loaf white bread
  • poultry seasoning to taste
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 chicken bouillon cube

Preparation

Step 1

Remove skins and chop sausage. Cook sausage in skillet, cut up into small pieces and set aside. Drain skillet and in same skillet, saute the celery and onion with the 1/4 stick of butter. Cut the loaf of white bread into cubes. Season with poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper to taste.

Take 1 cup water and bouillon cube and boil together until dissolved. Add to bread, then combine with onion mixture. Add sausage last. Either stuff turkey or cook in separate casserole dish until desired consistency.
