Ingredients

  • 1 chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 ) 1 large onion, sliced
  • 3 ) 1 slice bacon, cut into pieces
  • 4 ) 1 teaspoon salt
  • 5 ) dash pepper
  • 6 ) 1 quart water
  • 7 ) flour for thickening
  • 8 ) biscuit dough mix (recipe on Bisquick box)

Step 1

In a large saucepan, combine chicken, onion, bacon, salt and pepper. Add boiling water to cover. Simmer until chicken is tender. Transfer chicken to dish to cool. Thicken broth with flour using 2 Tbsp to each cup liquid. Remove chicken meat from bones, discarding bones. Return chicken meat to thickened broth and stir to combine, pour mixture into baking dish. Prepare enough biscuit dough to cover top of baking dish when rolled out 1/4 inch thick. Roll or pat biscuit dough out on floured board and cover top of baking dish with dough. Cut slits in dough to allow steam to escape. Bake at 450 degrees for 30 minutes.
