Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom
  • 1 (8 oz pkg) cream cheese, softened
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Filling
  • 1/2 cup small curd cottage cheese
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the first six ingredients. In another mixing bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Beating the eggs, milk, butter and vanilla. Gradually add to dry ingredients, beating until combined. For filling, combine cottage cheese, sugar and cinnamon in a small mixing bowl. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.

Spoon half of the batter into a greased 10 inch fluted tub pan; top with filling and remaining batter. Bake at 350° for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack. Dust with confectioners' sugar if desired.
