Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter-flavored shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 6 eggs
- 2 tbs anise extract
- 1 1/2 tsp anise seeds
- 3 1/4 cups flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- pumpkin variation: add 6 tbs canned pumpkin, 1/2 cup more flour and 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice; add raw or toasted shelled pumpkin seeds

Step 1
-cream shortening and sugar
-combine beaten eggs, anise extract and seeds and add to creamed mix
-add flour and baking powder
-drop by teaspoonful onto hot iron
