  • 4 cups stewed tomatoes
  • Dash of salt and pepper
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 small onion, grated
  • 1 1/2 cup soft breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

Preparation

Step 1

Season the tomatoes with salt and pepper. Add sugar and grated onion. Mix well.

In a small bowl, combine breadcrumbs and melted butter. Alternate layers of tomatoes and breadcrumbs in a shallow, 1 1/2 quart baking dish, ending with a thick layer of breadcrumbs.

Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.
