  • 1 1/3 c flour
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/2 c shortening
  • 3-4 T water

Step 1

Measure flour and salt in bowl. Cut in shortening. Sprinkle in water, 1 T at a time, mix til all flour is moist and dough almost cleans side of bowl (1-2 t water can be added if needed)

gather dough into ball, shape into flattened round on lightly floured surface. Roll dough 2" larger than inverted pie pan. Fold pastry in quarters, unfold and ease in pan

Trim over hanging edge of pastry 1" from rim of pan. Fold and roll pastry under,even with pan flute. Fill bake as directed in recipe
