Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 1 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 Tbs light corn syrup
- 2 Tbs water
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 cup chocolate chip
- 1/2 cup walnuts, finely chopped

Step 1
1. In a 2 quart glass batter bowl combine butter, sugar, corn syrup and water. Microwave on high 10-12 minutes, stirring once or twice to 300F (hard crack). Blend in vanilla. Pour into 12x8 or 9x13 inch pan. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. After 2 minutes, spread melted chocolate evenly. Sprinkle with nuts, pressing into chocolate by inserting your hand into a sandwich bag. Cool and break into uneven pieces to serve. Makes about 1 pound.

Tips
In the newer high powered microwaves I have found that you need to cook it in 3 minute intervals at 80% power, stirring well at each interval. Begin to watch carefully at about 10 minutes. Stirring to mix is essential to prevent separation in the finished product.
If you are using an instant read microwave candy thermometer, be sure that you DO NOT leave the probe in the mixture during microwaving. Remove the batter bowl and check temp outside the microwave oven.
