Ingredients
- 2 tbs butter
- 1 tbs oil
- 1 c. carrots, chopped
- 1 c. celery, chopped
- 1 1/2 c. onion, chopped
- 2 med potatoes, diced
- 2 c. shredded cabbage
- 5 c. water
- 5 c. chicken broth
- 2 c. green split peas
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp dried marjoram
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/8 tsp dried sage
- 1/4 tsp celery seeds
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 tbs fresh parsley, minced

Step 1
Heat the butter and oil in a large soup bot. Add carrots, celery, onion, potatoes, garlic and cabbage. Sauté, several minutes. Add water, broth, split peas, and seasonings. Bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 1 hour and 30 minutes, stirring frequently. Stir in parsley and adjust seasonings. Leftovers can be frozen for another meal
