Ingredients
- 1 (18.25 ounce) package German chocolate cake mix
- 3/4 cup butter, softened
- 2/3 cup evaporated milk
- 6 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 (14 oz.) pkg individually wrapped caramels, unwrapped

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease one 9x13 inch baking pan.
Combine cake mix, butter and 1/3 cup evaporated milk. Spread 2/3 of this mixture into prepared pan.
Bake for 6-8 minutes at 350 degrees, until the top is no longer dark and shiny.
While this is baking, melt caramels with remaining 1/3 cup evaporated milk.
When cake is done, pour caramel topping and sprinkle chocolate chips and chopped nuts over baked mixture.
Spoon small mounds of remaining batter over the top. Return to oven 6-8 min. You may have to adjust baking time the second time depending on your oven.
Note: It's also best to let it sit for several hours or overnight for before cutting.
