SUGAR COOKIES

Ingredients

• 1 cup butter
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 egg
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 1/2 tsp lemon extract
• 3 cups all-purpose flour
• 2 tsp baking powder

Preparation

Step 1

Oven 400.
In a mixing bowl cream butter and sugar
Add egg and extracts
In a separate bowl combine flour and baking powder. Gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Dough will be very stiff. If necessary, stir in the last cup of flour by hand.
On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness.
Cut into desired shapes
Place 2" apart on ungreased baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
Bake 6-7 minutes. Let cool for 2" before moving to wire racks, then cool completely before icing.
