Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 2 c. quick cooking rolled oats
  • 1 6 oz. pkg. semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 c. chopped walnuts or pecans

Preparation

Step 1

Cream together butter and shortening. Add sugars gradually, beating until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Blend in sifted dry ingredients, mixing thoroughly. Stir in oats, chocolate pieces and nuts. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2" apart onto greased baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 9-12 minutes. Remove cookies and cool on racks.
