Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup oleo
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 tsp soda
  • hot water
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 cups flour

Preparation

Step 1

Separate eggs, beat egg whites until stiff. Set aside.

Cream together sugar and oleo.

In a separate bowl beat together egg yolks and cold water. Add that to the creamed oleo and sugar.

Put soda in a small cup and add enough hot water to dissolve. (about 1 tbsp)

Take cocoa and add hot water to make a paste.

In large bowl, put flour, baking powder and vanilla. Add cream mixture, soda and cocoa and mix.

Fold in egg whites.

Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes. Greased and floured 9X13 pan.
