Ingredients

• 2 eggs
• 1 cup sugar
• 1-1/2 cups cornmeal
• 1 cup melted shortening
• 2 cups sour milk or buttermilk
• 2 cups flour
• 2 teaspoons soda
• 2 teaspoons salt

Preparation

Step 1

Beat eggs, add sugar and sour milk, then add melted shortening and dry ingredients of flour, soda and salt Mix thoroughly and add cornmeal.
Bake in corn bread iron pans or muffin tins, bake in hot oven 425 for 15 minutes or until done,
