Ingredients
- 1 lb Phylo pastry sheets
- 1 1/2 cups Sweet butter melted (3/4lb)
- 1 lb walnuts - finely chopped
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- Dash of ground cloves
- SYRUP
- 3/4 cup Sugar
- 3/4 cup honey
- 1 stick cinnamon
- whole cloves (few)
- 4 lemon slices
- 4 orange slices
- 1 3/4 cups water

Step 1
Combine all ingredients for syrup in saucepan and bring to a boil, stirriing until sugar is dissolved. Reduce heat, simmer uncovered for about 15-20 minutes. Strains.
Preheat oven to 325.
Combine nuts, ground cinnamon and 1/2 cup sugar in small bowl.
in 13x9x2 pan, place phyllo pastry sheets, brushing each second sheet evenly with melted butter. When 8-10 sheets are in place, spread 1/3 of walnut mixture over the top sheet. Place another 6-7 sheets of phyllo brushing each second sheet and then spread another 1/3 of nut mixture over the top sheet and repeat with buttered phyllo sheets and the final 1/3 of nut mixture. Spread remaining phyllo sheets on top, buttering each second sheet and buttering the top one.
With sharp knife, cut baklava into diamond shaped pieces.
Bake 325 degrees for 60 minutes. Turn off heat and let baklava remain in oven 30 minutes longer.
Remove from oven ad pour syrup over top. Cool in pan on wire rack.
