Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups (12 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Step 1
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl and set aside. Beat butter (or margarine), sugar, brown sugar and vanilla in a large bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in chocolate and nuts. Drop onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 9 - 11 minutes. Cook on baking sheet for 2 minutes and move to wire rack.
