Ingredients

  • 3 C regular oats
  • 1 C toasted oat cereal (like Cheerios)
  • 1/3 C oat bran
  • 1/2 C finely chopped walnuts
  • 1/4 tsp. cardamom
  • 2 T. butter
  • 1/3 C applesauce
  • 1/4 C honey
  • 2 T. brown sugar
  • 1 C chopped dried apples or raisins
  • Cooking spray

Step 1

Preheat oven to 250 degrees.

Combine first 6 ingredients in a large bowl, stirring well to combine.

Melt 2 T. butter in medium sauce pan over medium heat. Add 1/3 applesauce, honey and brown sugar and bring to a boil. Cook 1 minute, stirring frequently. Pour over oat mixture, stirring to coat. Spread in an even layer on jelly roll pan coated with cooking spray.

Bake at 250 degrees for 1 1/2 hours, stirring every 30 minutes. Allow to cool. Stir in fruit. Makes 6 cups. Store in airtight container.
