Ingredients

  • 1 lb pinto beans - soaked and drained (can substitute black beans and red kidney beans
  • 2 1/2 lbs ground beef or ground turkey
  • 2 yellow onions - diced
  • 1 green bell pepper - diced
  • 2 stalks celery - diced
  • 1 clove garlic - crushed
  • 2 tbsp diced pepperoncini peppers
  • 1 8-oz can tomatoe paste
  • 1/4 cup chili powder
  • 1 tbsp cayenne
  • 3 (1.31 oz) packages sloppy joe mix
  • 2 tbsp jalapeno juice

Preparation

Step 1

In a large pan, cook pinto beans in water to cover. In a skillet, lightly brown ground beef. Add vegetables. After vegetables soften, add pinto beans, tomato paste and all spices and liquids. Add water if needed, and salt and pepper to taste. Cook on low heat for 45-60 minutes and serve.
