Homemade Vanilla 1 Picture

Ingredients

  • 1 . Vanilla beans (I get mine on Amazon for a lot less that suppliers sell them)
  • 2 . Vodka or bourbon (doesn't have to be high end, I use the cheap stuff. This batch is made with vodka)
  • 3 . Glass jars or bottles with tight fitting lid (mine have corks, but they don't have to be)

Preparation

Step 1

Make a couple of cuts into the vanilla bean, to release the flavor. Stick 4 or 5 beans (more if you want a stronger flavor, less if you prefer a lighter flavor) into glass jar (you can cut the beans to make them fit if needed), pour vodka almost to the top of the jar. Cover with lid and store at room temp. I made mine mid-October and they were ready for gift giving by Christmas.
It will last forever, just top with vodka as you use the supply.
