Honey Granola Bars

Ingredients
- 2 cups old fashioned rolled oats
- 1 cup salted or unsalted sunflower seeds
- 2 tablespoon toasted wheat germ
- pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup honey
- 6 tablespoons vegetable or canola oil
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Step 1
1. Preheat the oven to 350. Line two 5x9 inch loaf pans with parchment paper, leaving extra for over hang; set aside.
2. In a medium size bowl, combine the oats, sunflower seeds, wheat germ and salt.
3. In a small heavy bottomed saucepan over medium heat, heat the honey, oil, and maple syrup. When the mixture comes to a simmer, remove the pan from heat and stir int he vanilla. Pour the mixture over the oats and stir until the oats are compeltely coated. Pour the oat mixture into the prepared pans and firmly press the mixtre into the bottom of the pans. Bake until the edges begin to bronw, 20 to 25 mintues.
4. Let cool in the pans on a rack. while the bars are still slightly warm, remvoe them from the pans by grasping the parchment paper. Cut each loaf crosswise into 6 bars, for a total of 12 bars, and transfer them to a rack to cool completely. Wrapt he bars individually with waxed paper.
