Caramel Spiced Bread

Ingredients
- 1/2 pkg. (4.5 oz.) Werther‘s Original Baking Caramels, unwrapped
- 3/4 cup softened butter, divided
- 1 medium apple
- 2 cups confectioners’ sugar
- 1 tbsp. vanilla extract
- 3 large eggs
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, divided
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice

Preparation
Step 1
* Preheat oven to 325°F. Grease and flour a 9“ x 5“ inch loaf pan. Set aside.
* Microwave caramels and 2 tablespoons butter in a microwave-safe bowl on HIGH 1½ minutes or until melted, stir after 1 minute.
* Peel, core, quarter and slice apple. Stir apple slices into melted caramel, set aside.
* Beat remaining ½ cup butter, sugar and vanilla in the bowl of an electric mixer on medium to high speed until fluffy.
* Add the eggs, one at a time, beating and scraping well after each.
* Stir together flour, baking soda and spices in a medium bowl.
* Add flour mixture to the butter mixture and blend until just combined.
* Stir in caramel and apples. Pour into the prepared loaf pan.
* Bake for 1¼ hours to 1½ hours, or until a toothpick inserted into the centers comes out clean.
* Cool on a wire rack for 15 minutes before removing from pan.
* Allow to cool completely before slicing.
